Campaign ASU 2020: Donors’ impact can be seen in lives changed

Psychology scholarship honors alum who dedicated her life to removing barriers for underrepresented students
ASU psychology alumnus Noah Goldstein established a scholarship in honor of his wife, Jenessa Shapiro, who also graduated from ASU with her doctorate in psychology. Shapiro spent 10 teaching and researching stereotyping, discrimination and prejudices, and promoting women and minorities before she died of cancer in 2018. Shapiro was known for her dedication to mentoring and supporting underrepresented students and being a champion for advancing educational opportunities. The Jenessa Shapiro Undergraduate Research Scholarship was designed to continue that legacy.

Jet industry leader propels aviation students educational support
Alumnus Justin Firestone credits ASU for much of his success in the U.S. and Asian private jet industries. Now, he and his wife, Natalie, want to pay it forward to help others studying aviation. They established the Justin and Natalie Firestone Scholarship for Entrepreneurship in Aviation.

World-renowned expert in insect social behavior and ecology awarded endowed chair
ASU alumnus Robert A. Johnson has a lifelong passion for ants and has traveled the world researching numerous species of ants. He wants to help others pursue ant research by establishing an endowed faculty chair.

Exemplary law students benefit from scholarship support
Pravati Capital is lending support to the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law’s top students with a new endowed scholarship to the college’s Dean’s Circle, which provides opportunities for mentorship, networking, hiring and financial support. Hundreds of law students studying at ASU campuses in downtown Phoenix, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., benefit from endowed scholarships such as this one.
